What happens the day of the Triathlon?

That morning at home:

  • Eat breakfast! This is the most important meal of the day and it is especially important today.  You’ll need to fuel up before you start your engine.  Keep it simple, keep it light.  Many kids like to eat what is familiar to them.  Toast, fruits, cereal are all great choices.
  •

  • Label your belongings so everyone knows what's yours!
If you're unsure what you need, please see the FAQ's section for more details.
  • Confirm you have all of the necessary equipment.

When you get to the pool:

  • Begin registration at the waiver table.  A parent MUST sign a liablity waiver prior to receiveing the participants event packet  / goody bag.
  •

  • Check-in and get your packet.  This will take place at the tables located near the pool entrance.  Here you will receive your event packet and goody bag.  The nice people here will ask for your waiver prior to handing out the participant packet!
  •

  • Time for body marking!  See the volunteers next to the packet table to have your body marked with your bib and heat numbers.  Feel free to mark your name on you too!
  •

  • Next, be sure your bike is in good working order!!  Ensure your tires are inflated and your chain in tight.  (You can check this out at home or stop in to River Trails Cycles, in Holmen to give it a check BEFORE the Tri).  River Trails will also be available that morning from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM to perform bike and helmet checks!  If you ride the route prior to the start, please use extreme caution!  The route will not close to traffic or be monitored until event starts at 9:15!
  •

  • Place your bike number on your bike, helmet number on the front of your helmet, and bib number on the front of the shirt you will be wearing after the swim.  This will help everyone to identify you along the way!
  •

  • Wristband colors are assigned to each age group.  Please be sure to wear your color throughout the event as this helps us to keep you within your age groups and helps the volunteers to direct you through the course.  Watch for your colors around the course as this is another guide to make sure you are on the right path!
    • If you are the parent of a 5-7 year old, an additional wrist band will be included in the child's packet.  Wearing this wristband will allow you, the parent, access to help your child in the swim to bike transition.  Only those wearing a wristband will be allowed in this area.
  •

  • Set up your transition area.  Volunteers will be available to help but parents may assist with the set up as well.  Park your bike in the designated area.  Lay out your towel, shirt, shoes, socks, helmet and anything else you may need for the bike or run portions of the event, close to your bike so you can easily find them.
  •

  • Use the bathroom as sometime those butterflies get to us!
  •

  • Listen for the announcer to call for your pre-triathlon meeting at 9:15 am.Attendance to this is mandatory. The pre-triahtlon meeting will review the course and answer any question participants may have.
  •

Get ready to swim, pedal, run and have some FUN, FUN, FUN!!
